Session 5: What the Cross Reveals . . .
This week we will explore the most central symbol of Christian faith. The cross, more than any other symbol, reveals God’s power, God’s justice, and God’s love. For many Protestant Christians, there is only one way of understanding the Cross and what it reveals about God’s nature. But the most prevalent understanding of the cross didn’t emerge until the 16th century. During this week’s session, we will explore how interpretations have changed throughout history largely as a result of culture and context, as well as how our culture and context informs our understandings. It is no overstatement to say that nothing we believe matters more than what we believe about the cross and what is says about the nature of God. Really, this is not a session you want to miss!
