What the Cross Reveals About the Nature of God

Why was Jesus sentenced to capital punishment? Who wanted him to die? Why? What does the crucifixion of Jesus say about the nature of God? What does it reveal about God’s justice? What does it reveal about God’s love? In what way(s) are we “saved” by the crucifixion of Jesus?

Why does Jesus cry out “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me'?” (Matthew 27:46, Psalm 22)
