Untroubled

This week’s reading begins with “Do not let your hearts be troubled” (John 14:1-11). Commonly referred to his farewell address, Jesus informs his closest followers that his time with them on earth is coming to an end. He knows the changes that are about to unfold will leave them confused, disoriented, and, quite likely, afraid. And, given their current capacity to make sense of what is happening, rather than offering them an explanation, he provides them with some instructions that, if followed, will provide the stability they will need when their world is turned upside down. Which begs the question, what instructions did he offer them ?( see John, chapters 13 — 15).

If your world were suddenly turned upside down, where would you look for support? Where would you find hope? What are some of the practices you employ now that will give you strength when life as you know it is upended? In addition to the future benefits of daily practices, are there benefits in the here an now?

As always, I look forward to what promises to be a rich and meaningful discussion!
