Renewed Purpose for a New Year

This past Sunday, inspired by Ephesians 1:3-14 , we considered plans, goals, and destiny from a faith perspective. In addition to S.M.A.R.T. goals (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, Timebound) and SWOT analyses (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats), we identified the importance of R.E.A.L. goals (Relational, Enlightening, Aspirational, Life-Giving). The former are objective with clear metrics. The latter are more about personal growth and development, and they are not always simple or easy to measure.

This week we will pick up with Ephesians 1:15-23 and Ephesians 2:4-10. How do the two readings broaden and deepen our understanding of plans, goals, and destiny from a faith perspective. How are these readings instructive to would-be followers of Jesus? How are they instructive for churches who are committed to being faithful to the message and teachings of Jesus?

As you know, Wednesdays are the highlight of my week. This week promises to be no exception!
