Praying Like Jesus

 In the days and weeks following Charlie Kirk’s tragic death, rhetoric has escalated and there are Christian leaders on the so-call right and the so-called left who are employing dualistic language that is inherently divisive. Such binary thinking offers no opportunity for dialogue or the possibility of bridging the chasm that seems to be ever expanding.  As we have been reminded on a number of occasions, “Our thoughts become our words, our words become our actions, our actions become our habits, our habits become our character, and our character becomes our destiny.”  One of the ways we change our personal and collective destinies is to change the way we think.  And one of the most powerful ways to change the way we think . . . is to pray like Jesus!  I hope to see you in person or via Zoom as we discuss the ways in which we are called to further the mission that inspired the Community Church’s founders and how we are called to fulfill Jesus’ prayer and vision of a world in which we are all “one.” (Zoom link at the bottom of this page)

John 17:1, 6-8, 22-23

17After Jesus had spoken these words, he looked up to heaven and said, ‘Father, the hour has come; glorify your Son so that the Son may glorify you . . . . 6 ‘I have made your name known to those whom you gave me from the world.
